Abstrakt: The article offers information on the hagfish. It belongs to the cyclostomes that includes the blood-sucking lampreys. This creature burrows into their prey and devour the flesh and viscerea, leaving only a bag of skin and bones. Some investigators believe that it descended from the ostracoderms. The hagfish is strictly an ocean dweller, living on the seabottom, principally in the temperate latitudes.
