The article presents a case of a 14-year-old boy with trimethylaminuria in the U.S. The boy is said to have smelled like dead fish for many years despite showering several times with deodorant soap. The odor has greatly affected his social life and has forced to quit the school wrestling team because of his condition. The results of his medical laboratories revealed that he has a trimethylaminuria. The patient had undergone choline- and carnitine-restricted diet and administration of systemic antimicrobial therapy. |
