The article discusses the existence of biracial cooperation among waterfront workers in Galveston, Texas during the late part of the nineteenth century. The author argues that the degree of cooperation indicated the commitment of African American workers to attain workplace equality with white workers. He notes that black and white waterfront workers in Galveston had settled into an uneasy biracial alliance in 1898. |
