The article describes the diagnosis of a 25 year old Hispanic man with pulmonary manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease. The patient has a three-year history of ulcerative colitis, and has a productive cough. Clinical examination showed coarse crackles at the lung bases and a prolonged expiratory phase. Bronchoscopic test revealed diffuse purulent secretions at his major airways. Pulmonary manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease is rare and has a variety of clinical presentations. |
