This article presents an editorial on the new Democratic majority in the United States Congress. The wins have propelled the democratic agenda to the fore, but with narrow margins in both the House and Senate could hamper any advancements. House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader-elect Harry Reid have promised a bipartisan approach to governing. The topics that the newly elected Congress proposes to address include the minimum wage, working on the recommendations of the 9/11 commission and stem cell research. |
