The article focuses on the evidence which implies that raised plasma homocysteine concentration can be an aetiological factor in cardiovascular disease. It has been noted that homocysteine is an amino acid derived from the metabolism of dietary methionine that can induce vascular endothelial dysfunction. Such effect describes the causal relationship between homocysteine and vascular disease. |
