The article describes in detail the results of transfusing autologous and allogeneic chromium-51 labeled red cells in ponies. Here, results from the transfusion created a problem, particularly the survival of red cells transfused in a small volume. Even where transfusions are given for blood loss, the therapeutic value might be more in the replacement of blood volume than in oxygen carrying capacity. |
