The article focuses on performing a rapid and comprehensive evaluation in the emergency department (ED) of medically stable adults with alcohol and substance use disorders. Drug Abuse Warning Network has found that there were about 627,923 drug-related ED visits in the U.S. in the third and fourth quarters of 2003. It is said clinicians should remember that the symptoms of drug intoxication or withdrawal may appear in atypical ways. |
