Abstrakt: The article focuses on the functions of the electroencephalogram (EEG) and the event-related potentials (ERPs) in the neurophysiology of the aging brain. An EEG, which represents the electrical activity of the brain as recorded from electrodes placed at various positions on the scalp, is essential for the diagnosis of the epilepsies and the study of sleep disorders. On the other hand, ERPs offers a means to assess peripheral nerve and brainstem function by using different sensory modalities.
