| Abstrakt: |
This study focuses on the outbreaks of multidrug-resistant Shigella sonnei gastroenteritis associated with day care centers in Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri, in 2005. It presents some case reports. Local public health agencies conducted case investigations and met with day care center staff to promote handwashing and observe diapering and food preparation practices. Health-care providers were advised to test and treat patients with shigellosis with appropriate antibiotics during the outbreak. |
