| Abstrakt: |
The article reports on the routine measurement of blood glucose in many neonates. Neonatal hypoglycemia is asymptomatic although it can lead to lethargy, apnoea and seizures. Moderate asymptomatic hypoglycaemia can be associated with long-term neurological and cognitive impairment. Reliable cotside blood glucose monitoring systems are essential to avoid erroneous measurements. |
