Abstrakt: |
The article discusses the study of the microbial life in the deep sea. Based on the study of Frank H. H. Johnson of Princeton University and Claude E. ZoBell of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, culturing the deep-sea organisms inside pressure vessels increased pressures adversely affected both the metabolism of the bacteria and the activity of isolated bacterial enzymes. However, bacteria were not all affected, it varied greatly from one bacterial community to another. |
