The article offers perspectives on adult and lifelong learning in Great Britain. The authors consider the perspectives of some of the groups under-represented in public debate, including part-time and temporary workers, migrants, older workers and people on welfare benefits. Unlike Wales and Scotland, in England lifelong learning has not been deemed sufficiently important by government to warrant a coherent set of policies, or to be seen as a priority when the overall direction of the publicly-funded education and training system has been set. |
