The author reflects on incidents which highlighted the conflict of interests that has developed beyond an issue for medical journals in the U.S. He thinks that editors of medical research need to disclose funding sources in order to maintain credibility in the field. He believes that disclosure will prevent bias in the interpretation and reporting of findings. Thus, it will influence public confidence in the medical profession and acceptance of treatments. |
