The article discusses the author's experience of being a friend of photographer Carl Van Vechten. According to the author, one of the reasons why poet Langston Hughes introduced him to Vechten was that Vechten could be helpful to him. When Vechten was about seventy-five or something, the author, Dorothy Peterson and Grace used to eat at Vechten's house with his wife. They were friendly, all through their contretemps, and they had many of them, because the author would always say and do whatever came into his mind. |
