The article reports that the Engine Alliance-powered Airbus A380 will be making its first flight in August 2006, following the start of ground runs on the test aircraft. Airbus says aircraft MSN009 has been handed over to the flight test division, which began ground-running the GP7200 engines on August 14, 2006. The aircraft will then be progressively devoted to systems development work from December 2006 into January 2007, with the formal certification test phase running from around February 2007 onwards. INSET: Workhorse will bear brunt of test programme. |
