Abstrakt: The article presents information on retail trade in Canada for May 2006. There has been a decline in sales in the automotive, food and beverages sector after two profitable months. Total retail sales declined by 0.6% from April to $32.6 billion. There was an increase in sales in home furnishing stores, home electronics stores, pharmacies and personal care stores. General merchandise stores, which include department stores and other general merchandise stores, also enjoyed sales gains in May.
