Abstrakt:	The chapter discusses the role of the social worker in helping an AIDS patient prepare a power of attorney and a living will. Several reasons explain the necessity for the patient to complete advance directives. Examples of how the issue may present are offered. Some facts the social worker needs to know before proceeding with the work are also presented.
