The first three UK concurrent planning [CP] projects were evaluated with the first 24 placements. All the concurrency carers and nearly half the birth .parents were interviewed before the judicial hearing determining the child's final placement. Involving birth parents in frequent contact with their fostered child is an integral part of the CP approach and aims to maintain attachment and enhance their parenting skills. This exploratory paper reports the responses of birth parents and concurrency carers to the aims and realities of the contact arrangements. Most had appreciated the contact sessions, but relations between foster and birth parents were not always easy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
