The article reports that hospitals are seeking more adult volunteers. The retirees who made up hospital volunteer forces for decades are more active and are unable to devote the 20-30 hours a week to volunteering. They have been replaced by hospital students eager to explore medical careers and boost their transcripts, but they cannot offer the same maturity and wisdom as older volunteers. Hospitals are hoping to tap into baby boomers for more help. |
