Abstrakt: The article analyzes the effectiveness of the teaching approaches used to teach the biological sciences curriculum study (BSCS) courses at the University High School at the University of Iowa. The BSCS was analyzed through comparing the student outcomes to the students experience on the subject as a group and as an individual. About twenty students who are enrolled in the eight-grade biology program at the University of Iowa were randomly selected. The school used two teaching approaches that includes class discussion, testing procedures and laboratory investigations. In 1968, the school used an individualized teaching approach. The study assessed that individualized teaching approach is more effective in the course compared to the group teaching approach.
