Abstrakt: The article investigates the understanding of the mental abilities needed to aid curriculum development as well as classroom teachers development in science education in the U.S. The major tasks involved in this investigation include obtaining an acceptable inventory of mental abilities, selection of useful learning concepts from the inventory, establishment of a criterion of concept achievement for the mechanical energy sequence, identification of the relationship of the selected mental abilities to achievement and interpretation of the findings and project implications.
