Philanderers, Cuckolds, and Wily Women: Reexamining Gender Relations in a Brazilian Working-Class Neighborhood.

Abstrakt: The article relates on the author's experience during a field research in Villa Sã0 João, a neighborhood in downtown Porto Alegre in Brazil. Her research tackled on philanderers, cuckolds and willy women and gender relations in the place. The author says that in the neighborhood, male and female relationships are a favorite which run through gossips and comments which accuses directly at one's partner. She also emphasizes that geopolitical specificities and cultural change have much to do with what she observed in the place. Her conclusions was that her ethnographic research are also related to the epistemological slant she adopted to analyze the scenario. She hopes to contribute to the growing trend toward important and specific analyses of masculinity in Latin America.
