Abstrakt: The article presents a study which examines the problem-solving behaviors of students during a genetics computer simulation. In its common nature, problem-solving behaviors and genetics concepts by experts and novices during interaction with the computer simulation. General patterns of problem-solving behaviors and genetics conceptual organizers were extracted from data to aid in the analysis and description of unique or common characteristics of subjects. The study incorporated a dynamic research strategy using a computer medium, through which information about the cognitive process of learners engaged with instructional software was examined.
