Abstrakt: The article discusses the effectiveness of radioactive poisons as a tool for warfare. A report written by E. Wigner and H. D. Smyth concluded that radioactive fission product produced from a day's run of a 100,000 kilowatt chain-reacting pile might be sufficient to make a large area uninhabitable. But since then, not much has been heard about radiological substances which are considered useful in military purposes. To obtain the true cause of the current silence, physicist Hans Thirring of the University of Vienna made a detailed discussion about it. According to him, not all fission products will be useful weapons in radiological warfare. The usage depends on the chemical separation of desired fission products.
