Abstrakt: The article focuses on the structure and biological function of lactoferrin in human breast milk. Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein of the transferrin family first discovered in bovine milk. In its iron-free form it becomes a more open molecule which is more sensitive to proteolysis than the iron-saturated closed form.
