Abstrakt: The article reports on the issues and considerations about early identification practice. Early identification means that infants and preschool children shall undergo screening in an attempt to predict whether the child will experience school problems in the future. However, there are disadvantages regarding the said practice that may result to inappropriate assignment of disability labels to nonhandicapped children. It also contains an overview of the major components of early identification practice using the prediction-performance matrix.
