The article presents a summary and an analysis of the report on the contribution of household textiles and apparels to burning accidents that was discussed at the conference on the flammability of textiles. It discusses the burning accidents blamed on clothings cathing fire, stating that the rate of heat and flame propagation indicates the hazards of burning fabrics. It suggests that methods of flameproofing fabrics must be considered and that retailers and consumers must be encouraged to choose flameproofed fabrics although it may be less attractive that unproofed fabrics. |
