Generation of Scattering Functions for Mobile Communication Channel: A Computer Simulation Approach.

Abstrakt: In this paper, an algorithm of generation of the scattering function by computer simulation for the WSSUS urban mobile communication channel is studied. The scattering function, which contains much valuable information of the channel, is calculated through three approaches. The empirical measured parameter database and recommended standard methods are used to generate the scattering function as the first and second approaches. An in-service measurement of the GSM network is performed in Singapore, in the frequency range 935-960 MHz using the Rohde and Schwarz Channel Sounder. The data collected are used for the calculation, as the third approach. The four main characteristics of the channel, the Doppler spread B/math>, the multipath spread Tm, the coherence time Δt, and the coherence bandwidth Δf, are observed. The computer-calculated scattering function is shown to be an accurate and effective tool for simulation of WSSUS channels. As a result, a software package is developed and utilized in the X-Window environment for the simulation of the urban mobile communication channel.
