A Detailed Experimental Study of the LEO Satellite to Indoor Channel Characteristics.

Abstrakt: General investigations and results from rather extensive measurement campaigns are presented to characterize the propagation channel of Satellite Personal Communication Systems; in the measurements the satellite was simulated by a helicopter and measurements at S band and L band were made. A new conceptual partitioning of the full link is introduced; the measrement equipment and the environment are described. The major part of the paper deals with presentation of the measurement results and their analyses. Measured and analyzed are average loss including satellite elevation and azimuth position dependence, first-order statistics, Doppler characteristics, and wide-band characteristics.
