Abstrakt: AbstractThe effects of the flood 2002 on dynamics and composition of groundwater in Dresden were examined in a research project. To evaluate changes in composition, post-flood records of single parameters have been compared to the ranges of measurements from a reference-period. Additionally, a procedure for a comprehensive evaluation of the groundwater quality has been developed. The overall groundwater quality below the city of Dresden proved to be rather good and it has been improving since 1998. Potentially anthropogenically elevated concentrations can be found especially for organic halides, sulfate and nitrate. After the flood, several parameters have changed compared to the reference-period. Those changes rarely show clear tendencies; for DOC, however, a significant increase could be observed. Most of the changes were temporary: while a slight decline in the groundwater quality could be noticed in fall 2002, the quality was already back to the pre-flood level by spring 2003.
