Abstrakt: The article reports on the results of a study showing that there was no significant change in the rate at which young people were admitted to hospitals in the United States after intentional self-injury in the 1990s. Those admitted in 2000 had more severe psychiatric disorder yet had shorter inpatient stays. Changes in diagnostic behavior or coding may has increased the prevalence of more severe psychiatric disorders.
