The article presents information on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Injury Surveillance System. A vital component in the association's risk-management, policy-development, and rules-making processes since 1982 is the Injury Surveillance System. For all NCAA championship and emerging sports in August 2005, the NCAA has shifted to a Web-based injury-data-collection system after a 2-year pilot and evaluation period. At the foundation of this data-collection system are the athletic trainers. |
