The demand for accountability in higher education has led to the popularization of ranking systems to evaluate graduate programs in physical education. Rankings by experts in the field have been of graduate programs as a whole, yet the programs of study, background of graduate students, and the young faculty are highly specialized and diversified. Rankings of entire graduate programs of an institution can be entirely inaccurate when they are made by "experts" who have either a general physical education background or a specialized preparation in another field. In this manuscript an evaluation system is proposed that utilizes an AAHPERD-sanctioned evaluation team comprised of experts from physical education associations and other scholarly societies. If graduate program evaluation is to be published and used by administrators, the system used should attend to the diversity of specializations and the credentials of those conducting the evaluation.
