The article focuses on the theoretical and experimental developments since 1962 that either employ computer-assisted instruction (CAI) as a research tool or focus on CAI as an educational system. CAI is the first high-speed electronic computer constructed to do millions of computations in a few instants. Some studies have utilized computers in the random generation of 2 to 5 values along five dimensions for the production of nonverbal sounds, which are: (1) frequency (2) amplitude (3) interrupt rate (4) duty cycle (5) duration. Another study has used computer to investigate quick memory processes and used to create random number-letter pairs, which have been suggestive for investigations of rehearsal hypotheses and the effect of rehearsal on the storage of information in memory. |
