The simulation of field-trial results by a laboratory test is a difficult procedure, mainly because the difference In test conditions in the two cases is so great. By using a newly developed technique of normalizing results, however, it is possible to compare directly the amounts of degradation taking place under widely different conditions, so that prediction of field-trial results may be possible. Examples are given of cases in which simulations of one machine by another, of one test by another, of one set of conditions by another, and of practical situations by laboratory procedures are carried out to give some idea of the scope of the technique.
