The article reports on the relevance of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as a recombinant cytokine to generate and preserve tissue vasculature. The VEGF works by interacting with transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptors found on the cell surface, thus, enabling its proangiogenic protein effects. |
