| Abstrakt: |
The article discusses the political development in the Arab countries. The increase in human rights and democratic freedoms in the countries of the Arab Middle East was the most notable development in the state of world freedom in 2005. This finding signifies that the Middle East is showing a new openness to the democratic electoral competition and free institutions that have made so profound an impact on other world regions with strong traditions of authoritarian rule. |
