Abstrakt: The article focuses on an evaluation of the effectiveness of classroom and mass media for the delivery of a psychosocial smoking prevention program and an accompanying smoking cessation program. It evaluates: the acceptance of the program by teachers, students and parents; program implementation level and quality; and program effectiveness. The program consisted of four distinct components: television prevention segments, a classroom curriculum, a home booklet and television cessation segments. The results of the article suggest that school-based and television social influences prevention programming are moderately acceptable to schools and very acceptable to students and parents.
