The article discusses the diagnosis and clinical management of the psychological issues facing patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It explores the prevalence of COPD in the U.S. and the psychological symptoms linked with it. It details the psychophysiology of COPD and the clinical analysis of anxiety and depressive disorders in COPD patients. The nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic interventions for the psychological aspects of COPD are also presented here. |
