Abstrakt: The article presents information about the meeting of Japanese and Unites States science educators under the auspices of the National Science Teachers Association in Washington, D. C. The main purpose of the meeting was to establish more effective information exchange between U. S. and Japanese science educators regarding research, development and practice in school science. Another purpose was to nurture the development of a small cadre of U. S. science educators who would become serious scholars regarding Japanese science education. There were seven Japanese and sixteen Americans who participated in the seminar. The leader of the Japanese team was Kunio Umeno of the National Institute for Educational Research in Tokyo. And the co-leaders of the U. S. team were James J. Gallagher and Floyd Mattheis.
