Abstrakt: The article examines how consumers' expectations for apparel matched the technical standards used by the industry in developing apparel products, based from a research conducted by Cotton Inc. One of the characteristic the study chose was wrinkle resistance, an attribute of 26% of shirts and 31% of slacks sold in the U.S. retail market. The research was based on the AATCC Test Method 124-2001 fabric smoothness appearance test scale. In the study, consumers' satisfaction with product appearance and their willingness to pay for incremental increases in wrinkle-resistance performance on the technical scale, were measured.
