The article discusses the significance of including emotional literacy as a goal in early childhood educational programs. A report from the Child Mental Health Foundation and Agencies Network emphasizes the role of social and emotional school readiness in achieving success in kindergarten transition, early school success and accomplishments in the workplace. Many children suffer from a condition called emotional illiteracy. A number of protective factors that foster resiliency have been identified by researchers. Literature can be used in developing children's understanding of their own and others' feelings. |
