The article discusses research and theory on evolutionary social psychology. Its general principles, including natural selection, are used to expand understanding of human social behavior. Several psychologists believe that evolutionary approach provides an incompatible alternative to the cultural, cognitive or learning-based schemes. Factors that keep social scientists from using an evolutionary perspective because it implies evolved mechanisms are unchangeable. |
