This article presents a research on the foreign language instruction. Research in television and tape recordings has tended to ignore what may be the absolutely crucial element: the function of the teacher who presents the lesson, whatever the medium of presentation. Since language laboratory installations have become established tools in research and teaching, it is no longer necessary to demonstrate their essential functions. However, there are still problems in equipment selection. This report must be viewed with caution, since the startling result was not the primary object of the research and since many influences may have contributed to the improvement in performance. |
