The article reports on the reform in the Soviet economy which will be the result of the summit meeting to be held on December 8-10, 1987 in Washington between Mikhail S. Gorbachev and U.S. President Ronald Reagan. The first step in the so-called reform is the removal of the medium-range missiles from Europe. Gorbachev's political clout will be enhanced if he wins an agreement in Washington to pursue deep cuts in long-range missiles. |
