Abstrakt: The article reports that an increasing number of U.S. banks are building branches in Japan to offer private banking services to the country's rich customers. To gain a foothold in the Japanese market and compete with local companies, U.S. banks are raiding local firms' salespeople and clients. According to the author, the foreign banks' global networks and diversified products give them a headstart in Japanese private banking.
