The article reports on the possibility that the West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl's Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU) will lost in the 1987 election due to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. It is stated that the fallout has destroyed the farmers' crops thus, the Union needs to persuade the farmers for votes. It is also stated that the CDU coalition hopes to win in the election for the country is showing a strong growth in economy. |
