Abstrakt: This article discusses the prevalence of popular songs in French films in the 1930s. The musical use of film is reflected in the prevalence of songs in French feature-length films as confirmed by an invaluable discography published by the Bibliothèque Nationale. Compiled through the analysis of the commercial catalogs published by record companies, the discography reveals that the majority of films made during the period contain at least one song.
