The article analyzes the poem "Snow-Flakes" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. According to the author, the poem is an example of Longfellow's use of sentimental forms for pragmatic purposes in which he describes how the natural world can be used to cope with grief. Through a critique of the depiction of winter and a snowstorm, the author concludes that Longfellow reveals the heuristic nature of transcendence and the psychological process of naturalizing grief. |
